Shirley MacLaine made a rare public appearance over the weekend, dining at the popular Los Angeles celebrity spot Nobu in Malibu, California. The 91-year-old legendary actress was photographed leaving the restaurant arm-in-arm with a male companion on Sunday, dressed casually in a T-shirt and khaki pants.
Though she seldom appears in public, MacLaine is occasionally seen enjoying lunches with friends. Earlier this month, she braved rainy weather for an outing, and in December, she attended the Dance Hall of Fame’s inaugural ceremony to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award, where she dressed elegantly for the occasion.
MacLaine has attributed her long life to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, telling People in April 2024 that her early dance training instilled discipline, a love for music, and resilience. Starting dance at age three and continuing until her late 60s, she emphasized the importance of staying active and working through challenges.
Despite her age, MacLaine continues to engage in select projects. She appeared in two episodes of “Only Murders in the Building” in 2022 alongside Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short, and starred in the film “American Dreamer” with Peter Dinklage the same year. She also released a memoir, “The Wall of Life,” in 2024.
Her illustrious career began on Broadway in the 1950s with “The Pajama Game,” followed by her film debut in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1955 comedy “The Trouble with Harry.” A six-time Academy Award nominee, MacLaine won Best Actress for her role in 1983’s “Terms of Endearment,” cementing her legacy as a Hollywood icon.
