Amy Poehler humorously recounted her Boston upbringing surfacing during a plane argument with a fellow passenger while appearing on her “Good Hang” podcast with former “Saturday Night Live” costar Ana Gasteyer.
Gasteyer recalled the dispute occurring when her daughter Frances (now 23) was an infant on the flight, prompting Poehler to react with mock disbelief: “She was on the flight and I still got in a fight with the baby around?”
According to Poehler, a man in first class complained they were being disruptive. “My Boston came out, let’s just say that,” she remarked, with Gasteyer calling it “the best thing I’ve ever seen.”
Poehler married Will Arnett in 2003 (divorced 2016), sharing sons Archie, 17, and Abel, 15. Gasteyer wed Charlie McKittrick in 1996, with whom she shares Frances and son Ulysses.
The entertainers costarred on SNL from 2001-2002, later appearing in Tina Fey’s “Mean Girls” — Poehler as Regina George’s “cool mom” and Gasteyer as Cady Heron’s mother. They reunited for 2019’s “Wine Country” alongside Fey, Maya Rudolph, and others.
Reflecting on their SNL days, both expressed admiration for lifestyle icon Martha Stewart, whom Gasteyer famously impersonated. Poehler joked: “Martha, I’m not inviting you on the show… but please know you’re something else.”
