In a lengthy Instagram post, the 26-year-old confirmed longstanding speculation about tension surrounding his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz, specifically involving his mother’s role in designing the wedding dress.
Beckham stated: “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.” Despite initial plans for Peltz to wear a Victoria Beckham creation, the actress ultimately walked down the aisle in a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown featuring a square neckline, lace gloves, and a cathedral-length veil.
Peltz previously addressed the situation in 2022, telling Variety: “I was going to wear [a Victoria Beckham dress] and really wanted to. A few months later, she realized her atelier couldn’t do it, so I picked another dress. She didn’t forbid me from wearing it.” The bride’s mother, Claudia Heffner Peltz, reportedly added sentimental touches to the Valentino dress, including stitching an evil eye and a personal message in blue thread.
For their August 2025 vow renewal ceremony, which notably excluded the Beckham parents, Peltz wore her mother’s 1985 wedding gown – an ivory off-the-shoulder dress repurposed for the occasion. Victoria Beckham had worn a cobalt Versace dress to the original 2022 wedding.
