It reads like a made-for-TV drama: Lindsay Lohan’s cousin takes center stage as the rebellious lead in a new reality series, where by the second episode, she’s already gotten tipsy, skipped her shift, collapsed from exhaustion, and gatecrashed her employer’s birthday celebration.
Meet Jillian “Jill” Gough, one of the stars of Discovery+’s “Serving the Hamptons,” which dives into the behind-the-scenes chaos at Southampton’s trendy eatery, 75 Main. Though viewers have labeled her the show’s primary diva, the 22-year-old disagrees. “So what if I wasn’t invited to the party? I took a sick day,” she shrugs. “I had an unforgettable summer and wouldn’t change a thing. The audience will love watching—even if they don’t have quite as much fun as we did.”
The series follows Gough and her glamorous housemates—who also work at the celebrity-frequented restaurant owned by Zach Erdem—as they navigate drama, romance, and VIP hosting duties. Among them is fellow Long Island blonde Samantha Crichton, Gough’s frenemy-turned-confidante. The pair’s dynamic takes a turn when both develop feelings for Ethan Thompson, a charismatic model-DJ who charms nearly every woman in sight.
Living in Erdem’s staff-provided share house (a necessity in the pricey Hamptons), the group flouts rules set by manager Victoria Hilton, aka drag persona John Graham: no flings, no drinking on the clock, and no skipping work—directives quickly ignored. “I thought, ‘Screw their rules,’” admits Gough.
Erdem initially fired Gough in 2020 but rehired her the following year. “Our relationship is rocky,” she says. “He accused me of spreading rumors, and I heard he did the same. But we’re good now—I proved my work ethic.” Crichton, 21, a newcomer during filming, emphasizes the challenge of catering to A-listers seeking privacy: “You treat them like royalty but also like regular people.”
Amid pandemic-era filming (with daily testing and vaccines), the show captures the restaurant’s high-energy vibe, complete with cocktail artistry from chef Brogan Wu, who bears a striking resemblance to Angelina Jolie. Post-show, Crichton is launching a premixed cocktail line, while Gough returned to therapy, relocated to New York City, and plans a podcast. “The experience pushed me to grow,” she reflects.
Despite turbulence—including Gough’s infamous stunt at Erdem’s birthday bash—both women praise their boss. “He’s like a father figure who holds me accountable,” Gough says. And though sparks flew over Thompson, the real takeaway is their bond: “Sam and I laughed, bonded, and will be friends for life.”
