Cipriani Downtown, a celebrity hotspot frequented by figures like Kendall Jenner and previously linked to Harvey Weinstein’s alleged misconduct, has had its liquor license suspended for violating pandemic safety protocols. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that a state task force inspected venues statewide, including Cipriani Downtown, after receiving multiple complaints.
During a check on Tuesday, State Liquor Authority Chairman Vincent Bradley observed 17 patrons drinking while standing around tables without chairs, most not wearing masks. Upon entering the premises, Bradley also saw an unmasked employee behind the bar and four customers purchasing alcohol directly at the bar—actions violating executive orders.
A representative for Cipriani clarified that the license was suspended, not permanently revoked. The restaurant chain had previously been described in 2018 legal proceedings as one of Weinstein’s reported “hunting grounds,” though Cipriani denied awareness of any misconduct incidents at the time.
