This development coincided with the detention of an individual for questioning by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Rio Rico, Arizona, near the U.S.-Mexico border. Authorities, aided by the FBI’s Evidence Response Team, executed a search warrant at a Rio Rico location connected to the investigation.
FBI Director Kash Patel noted significant progress in the case during a recent interview, identifying “persons of interest” without disclosing further details. The detained individual, later identified only as Carlos, claimed innocence upon release, stating he worked for delivery service GLS and “might have delivered a package” to Nancy’s home but had no involvement in her disappearance.
Earlier, the FBI released security footage showing an armed, masked figure tampering with Nancy’s home camera the morning she vanished. Nancy, 84, was last seen on January 31 after being dropped off by her son-in-law following a family dinner. She was reported missing the next day when she failed to attend virtual church services with a friend. Authorities believe she was forcibly taken from her home overnight.
