Dolly Parton has announced she will miss her 80th birthday celebration at the Grand Ole Opry due to ongoing health challenges. In a video shared on the Opry’s Instagram, the country music icon expressed gratitude for the planned event while confirming her absence.
“Some of my favorite memories happened right here on stage at the Grand Ole Opry,” Parton said, adding, “I wish I could be there in person, but I’ll be sending you all my love.” The celebration is scheduled for January 17, two days before her birthday.
Parton has faced multiple health setbacks in recent months. Last September, she postponed her Las Vegas residency citing medical procedures, clarifying it wasn’t “my usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.” Days later, a kidney stone forced her to cancel a Dollywood appearance, though she reassured fans she was “gonna be ok.”
Despite these challenges, Parton remains committed to her career. “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she shared previously. “I feel like I’m just getting started.” Her goddaughter Miley Cyrus echoed this sentiment, stating Parton “isn’t slowing down any time soon.”
The news follows the March 2025 passing of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean. Parton recently thanked fans for their enduring support, emphasizing, “I will always love you.”
