Elon Musk shared the inspiration behind the unique names of his 4-year-old twins with Shivon Zilis. Responding to a photo posted by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley on X, Musk explained that his son, Strider Sekhar, got his first name from Aragorn’s nickname in “The Lord of the Rings.” The middle name Sekhar honors Indian physicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Their daughter’s name, Comet Azure, references “the most powerful spell” in the video game “Elden Ring.”

Musk did not disclose how he and Zilis, 39, chose names for their two other children: daughter Arcadia (born February 2024) and son Seldon (February 2025). The twins are among Musk’s 14 children with multiple partners. His oldest child, Nevada, born in 2002 with ex-wife Justine Wilson, died in infancy. The former couple later welcomed twins Griffin and Vivian in 2004 and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian in 2006. Musk is estranged from Vivian, once referring to her as “killed” by the “woke-mind virus,” and told the Financial Times in 2022, “I can’t win them all.”

With musician Grimes, Musk shares son X AE A-XII (5), daughter Exa Dark Sideræl (4), and son Techno Mechanicus (3). The exes have been embroiled in a custody battle since separating in 2022. He also fathered Ashley St. Clair’s son Romulus, born in September 2024, after initially disputing her paternity claims. St. Clair alleged Musk once mentioned fathering a child with a Japanese porn star and offering his sperm “to anyone,” though Musk has not publicly addressed her statements.
