Heidi Klum turned heads at the 2026 Grammys in a custom leather dress designed to mimic her natural body shape. Created by Austrian designer Marina Hoermanseder, the form-fitting gown was molded directly onto a sculptural replica of Klum’s body, capturing every contour from neck to knees.
The intricate design process began with digital renderings and physical sculpting. Hoermanseder’s team wet leather panels, stretched them over the body mold, and used hairdryers and specialized tools to achieve a seamless fit. The dress was constructed in two separate pieces—front and back—fastened together with buckles for the final look. Jagged edges along the neckline and hem were meticulously hand-cut with utility knives.
To match Klum’s skin tone perfectly, the team tested multiple paint shades before applying a high-gloss lacquer for a sleek, latex-like finish. Klum’s makeup, designed by L’Oréal Paris artist Linda Hay, complemented the dress’s neutral palette and sculptural curves, described as “an art piece more than a gown.”
Klum admitted the restrictive design prevented her from sitting, joking she’d be giving “standing ovations all the way.” She later changed into a black strapless dress, sharing footage of herself enjoying a burger during the ceremony. Hoermanseder, known for leather corsets and body-molded “vases,” has previously dressed celebrities like Kylie Jenner, Naomi Campbell, and Rihanna.
