Jacob Elordi opened up about the intense on-screen connection he shares with Margot Robbie in their new film adaptation of “Wuthering Heights.” The actor described capturing the passionate yet tragic love between literary characters Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, noting how their version explores romantic moments only hinted at in Emily Brontë’s original novel.
Elordi recalled deeply immersive filming experiences, including running through the English moors with Robbie where they genuinely felt transformed into their characters. He specifically mentioned a poignant sunset scene enhanced by Kate Bush’s iconic “Wuthering Heights” song, which made their connection feel timeless.
Robbie emphasized the destructive nature of Cathy and Heathcliff’s relationship, explaining how their obsessive bond ruins lives. Director Emerald Fennell aimed to create an overwhelmingly emotional experience, joking that she wanted audiences “to cry so hard they vomit.”
Addressing initial fan skepticism about Elordi’s casting as Heathcliff, Robbie firmly defended the decision, stating, “He is Heathcliff” after witnessing his performance firsthand.
The film, reimagining one of literature’s most famous tragic romances, is scheduled for release on February 13, just ahead of Valentine’s Day.
