Jake Reiner made his first public appearance with his girlfriend Maria Gilfillan following the tragic deaths of his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and mother Michele Reiner. The couple was photographed holding hands during a shopping outing in Malibu, California, on Saturday. Both maintained serious expressions while walking between stores, with Jake briefly seen talking on his phone during the excursion.
Jake dressed casually in a blue button-up shirt, jeans, a hat, sunglasses, and white sneakers. Gilfillan wore a green sweater layered under a gray jacket, paired with jeans, beige boots, sunglasses, and a tan shoulder bag.
Rob and Michele Reiner were fatally stabbed in their Brentwood home on December 14, dying within minutes of the attack, according to death certificates. Their daughter Romy discovered their bodies and identified her brother Nick Reiner as a person of interest, citing his history of substance abuse and violent behavior.
Nick, 32, was arrested later that day in downtown Los Angeles after allegedly leaving blood evidence at a Santa Monica hotel. Charged with two counts of first-degree murder, he remains jailed at Twin Towers Correctional Facility awaiting his January 7 arraignment. Reports indicate Nick plans to plead not guilty despite alleged schizophrenia diagnoses and previous conflicts, including a heated argument with Rob at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party where Rob reportedly expressed fear Nick might “hurt” him.
The Reiners’ remains were cremated and entrusted to Jake.
