Jennifer Lopez has declared that any future romantic partner must fully accept and respect her. During her Las Vegas show on Saturday, the superstar performed her 1999 hit “If You Had My Love” and reflected on how her perspective on the song has evolved through life experiences, including her divorce from Ben Affleck.
“Back when I first sang it, I was young and filled with hope,” Lopez told the audience. “Over the years, I’ve sung it with sadness, and now I sing it from a place of strength.” She emphasized that earning her love requires effort: “You’d need to treat me right, respect me, and embrace every part of who I am.”
Acknowledging love’s complexities, she added, “Heartbreak is inseparable from love—it’s what we sign up for.” Lopez also humorously referenced her marital history during the show, joking about having felt married “twice” before her first divorce was finalized. “Now I’ve learned and grown,” she quipped. “We’re in our happy era.”
