The messy divorce between Ariella Schottenstein and Jeffrey Schottenstein, heir to the American Eagle Outfitters retail empire, has taken a financial toll. Ariella is now being sued by her own legal team, Chemtob Moss Forman & Beyda, for over $112,000 in unpaid legal fees.
The separation began in May when Ariella filed for divorce. Jeffrey, whose father is billionaire Jay Schottenstein, responded with his own legal filings in August. The proceedings have been highly contentious, involving leaked recordings of Jeffrey disparaging Ariella while she was pregnant. Jeffrey, an executive at American Signature furniture, previously faced legal issues in 2019 when a former therapist accused him of drug abuse and solicitation, though those charges were eventually dismissed.
The couple’s 2022 wedding was a high-profile affair, featuring a marriage proposal displayed on a Times Square billboard and a guest list that included LeBron James. Despite the family’s estimated wealth of $2.7 billion and the recent financial success of American Eagle Outfitters, the personal legal battle continues to spiral into public debt disputes.
