The singer, a longtime friend of the Beckhams and godfather to their son Cruz, shared his perspective with the Hollywood Reporter. “They’re a wonderful family,” Anthony stated. “I’ve known them since before the kids were born. But I have nothing to say about what happened there. It’s extremely unfortunate how it’s playing out—and how it’s playing out is hardly the truth.”
The controversy stems from Brooklyn Beckham’s January Instagram statement, where he claimed his mother, Victoria, “hijacked” his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz during their 2022 wedding. Brooklyn alleged Anthony was set to introduce their romantic dance, but instead called him to dance with Victoria, who “danced very inappropriately” with him, leaving him “uncomfortable and humiliated.”
Sources informed Page Six that while this wasn’t the couple’s official first dance, it was a planned special moment where Anthony was to introduce the newlyweds on a dedicated stage. Instead, he reportedly invited Brooklyn to dance with “the most beautiful woman in the room”—Victoria. Attendees described Nicola leaving in tears as Victoria embraced Brooklyn intimately during the dance, with the Beckham family’s guests cheering while the Peltz side remained silent.
Brooklyn’s statement also noted his unwillingness to reconcile with his parents. His siblings—Romeo, Cruz, and Harper—have since shown solidarity with David and Victoria.
