She expressed admiration for the Kennedy-Schlossberg family’s united support during Tatiana’s battle, emphasizing her own deep bond with Caroline Kennedy: “My heart has always been with my cousin Caroline… What a rock she has been.”
Shriver vowed to help Schlossberg’s young children—3-year-old Eddie and 1-year-old Josie—understand their mother’s remarkable spirit, noting Tatiana’s resemblance to her “extraordinary mother.” She urged readers to cherish life as a precious gift.
Tatiana had disclosed her diagnosis in a November New Yorker essay, explaining that doctors discovered the aggressive leukemia shortly after she gave birth to her daughter. Despite having no prior symptoms, she was given one year to live. In her writing, she praised her husband George Moran’s unwavering support, detailing how he advocated with medical teams and slept on hospital floors during her treatment. The couple married in 2017.
