Mayor Eric Adams was seen socializing at high-end venues early Friday morning, just hours before he officially declared a state of emergency regarding New York City’s migrant crisis.
The mayor’s night began at Osteria La Baia, a restaurant owned by his associate Zhan “Johnny” Petrosyants. He was there to celebrate the birthday of real estate agent Eleonora Srugo alongside hip-hop stars French Montana and Ja Rule. Following the dinner, Adams reportedly moved the party to Little Sister, a nightclub in the East Village, where he remained until approximately 1:00 a.m.
Instagram posts captured the mayor interacting with the rappers, and local DJs confirmed his presence in the booth late into the night. Other notable guests included Scott Sartiano, the founder of the private club Zero Bond, whom Adams recently appointed to the board of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Despite the late night, Adams appeared at a press conference at 10:30 a.m. on Friday to announce a state of emergency. He warned that the surge of migrants entering the city would require roughly $1 billion in funding for shelter and essential services.
This incident follows a recent pattern for the mayor. In September, shortly after claiming the city’s shelter system had reached its “breaking point,” Adams was spotted at a luxury jazz club at the Aman NY, an exclusive venue where membership fees can reach $100,000.
