Nick Reiner has reportedly been taken off suicide watch nearly a month after being charged with his parents’ murders. The 32-year-old, who previously wore an anti-suicide smock during his December 17 court appearance, no longer requires the protective garment according to reports.
Reiner remains in solitary confinement at Los Angeles’ Twin Towers Correctional Facility under High Observation Housing (HOH) monitoring. He will stay under these conditions until a court determines otherwise. The suspect faces two counts of first-degree murder for the December 14 stabbing deaths of his parents, director Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner.
His siblings, Jake (34) and Romy (28), have been supporting each other at the family’s California beach home following the tragedy. Reports indicate Romy discovered their parents’ bodies in the family residence.
Before his arrest, Reiner was captured on camera wandering Los Angeles streets and left behind a bloodstained hotel room. The longtime drug addiction sufferer, who reportedly received a schizophrenia diagnosis, had recently undergone medication changes preceding the murders. A family friend revealed Rob Reiner expressed fear of his son at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party the night before the murders, stating he worried Nick might harm him.
