Ryan Lochte has moved in with his new girlfriend and her three children just nine months after his estranged wife, Kayla Reid, filed for divorce. The former Olympic swimmer described the decision as “the right next step” following their seven-year marriage, which produced three children: Caiden, 8, Liv, 6, and Georgia, 2.
Lochte stated he fell in love with someone who shares his values and has three children of her own. “Together, we’re a family of six kids. She’s my best friend, our kids have formed an incredible bond, and it became clear that being together under one roof was the right next step for all of us,” he explained. The couple relocated to a larger home to accommodate their blended family, prioritizing a “loving, stable environment” for the children.
Lochte emphasized his commitment to personal growth since the split, including rehab, therapy, and renewing his Christian faith—all efforts centered on becoming a better father. He now shares custody of his children with Reid 50% of the time.
The 12-time Olympic medalist marked the move by sharing photos with girlfriend Molly Gillihan on Instagram, captioning the post, “Home Sweet Home.” The pair have been romantically linked since July, when Lochte first posted photos of them together—just one month after Reid announced their separation.
Reid filed for divorce on March 26, citing “painful, revealing, and challenging” circumstances in an Instagram post. She later accused Lochte of substance abuse, alleging he used nitrous oxide in front of their children and left “empty baggies of cocaine” in their home. Lochte denied using drugs around his kids but acknowledged struggles with addiction, entering rehab shortly after the allegations surfaced. In September, he announced he was 54 days sober, calling it a pivotal moment in his journey.
