Ryan Lochte’s girlfriend, Molly Gillihan, responded indirectly to criticism from his estranged wife, Kayla Rae Reid, regarding Lochte’s parenting abilities. Reid stated in a People interview that Lochte falls short of being the father their children “deserve,” prompting Gillihan to share a series of pointed Instagram Stories. She urged followers to “stay kind, even when it’s hard,” adding that “your actions say everything about you” and advising kindness even toward those who “don’t deserve it.”
Gillihan followed this with a family selfie featuring Lochte and their combined six children, captioning the image with a reference to their “#moderndaybradybunch” dynamic and humorously requesting applications for an “Alice” (a nod to The Brady Bunch housekeeper). The couple, who went public in July 2025 shortly after Reid filed for divorce, recently moved in together. Lochte previously emphasized their blended family’s bond as motivation for the decision, calling it the “right next step.”
Reid, however, expressed skepticism about Lochte’s growth as a parent during her interview, stating they are “obviously not in a good place” and noting their children’s confusion amid the divorce. She also alluded to past issues, including allegations of Lochte using drugs around their kids—prompting his rehab stint in 2025. The former couple, who share three children, reportedly owe nearly $270,000 in debt, as per divorce filings. Reid co-hosts the “Comeback Era” podcast, where she continues to discuss her post-divorce journey.
