Ray J has been granted permission to see his children after a judge modified a protective order that previously barred him from contact with his estranged wife, Princess Love, and their two kids—Melody, 7, and Epik Norwood, 6. The decision followed a court hearing in Los Angeles on Friday, where Princess Love and Ray J’s mother, Sonja Norwood, testified. Princess Love stated the children miss their father and expressed confidence they would not be in danger with him.
The couple appeared together outside the courthouse, with Ray J looking upbeat despite recent health struggles, including a severe pneumonia diagnosis and his public claim that doctors predict he may not live past 2027. The protective order stemmed from a November 2025 incident where Ray J was arrested for allegedly brandishing a gun during a Thanksgiving livestream with Princess Love and their children present. He faced charges including child endangerment and was released on bail.
Princess Love, who filed for divorce from Ray J for the fourth time in February 2024, accompanied him to the hearing. Ray J recently revealed he was hospitalized for heart issues linked to pneumonia and is on multiple medications, with doctors advising bed rest and abstinence from smoking and alcohol. He also mentioned considering treatment in Haiti and reiterated his grim prognosis in social media posts, claiming his heart is functioning at only 25% capacity.
