Everyone appears to lean toward Team Conrad.
Sean Kaufman and Christopher Briney, co-stars of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” surprised fans by sharing a kiss during the New York Knicks game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Madison Square Garden on Friday. The pair were caught on the arena’s camera display, prompting Kaufman to grab Briney’s face and kiss him on the lips. Briney responded with laughter afterward.
The Knicks’ official Instagram account shared a clip of the moment, captioning it, “belly you have some competition 🤭,” and adding, “Everyone is Team Conrad”—a nod to the central love triangle between characters Belly (Lola Tung), Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Conrad (Briney) in the Netflix series. Kaufman portrays Steven, Belly’s older brother.
Other attendees at the game included celebrities like Ray Romano, Jordyn Woods, and Spike Lee.
Following the September finale of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Amazon Prime confirmed plans for a movie to conclude the story, directed by Jenny Han, author of the original book trilogy. Han stated the film would properly honor the final milestone in protagonist Belly’s journey.
The show, spanning three seasons, also starred Rain Spencer (Taylor), Jackie Chung (Laurel), Tom Everett Scott (Adam), and Rachel Blanchard (Susannah).
