Sugarman bluntly called Spelling’s home “messy,” criticizing her extreme difficulty parting with possessions. Spelling admitted feeling overwhelmed managing her household while raising five children with ex-husband Dean McDermott. She shared that her living room had become a “gifting suite” filled with clutter and confirmed her Christmas tree remained standing long after the holidays. After seeing a photo of the space, Sugarman noted the room was unusable and emphasized the severity of the situation, stating Spelling had “400 stacks of s–t in the house.”
Spelling acknowledged she avoids hosting guests due to the chaos, admitting she wouldn’t even invite her podcast’s executive from iHeartRadio over. She contrasted her current living situation with her married life, explaining McDermott insisted on keeping the house “presentable,” and she previously had household help. Sugarman stressed that the disorder likely contributed to Spelling’s prolonged illness and urged her to seek professional assistance.
Spelling and McDermott, who share children Liam, Stella, Hattie, Finn, and Beau, finalized their divorce in June 2023 after nearly 18 years of marriage. Court documents later revealed the couple owes over $1.7 million in unpaid state and federal taxes.
