“Virgin River†actor Stewart McLean is now believed to be the victim of a homicide after he went missing, investigators say.
Squamish Royal Canadian Mounted Police “initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe Mr. McLean was victim of homicide,†leading them to transfer the case to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), reads the official release.
Police did not go into detail regarding the evidence found.
The Squamish RCMP and reps for the actor did not immediately respond to Page Six's requests for comment.
McLean, 45, was first reported missing on May 18 after he was last seen at his Lions Bay home on May 15.
The agency will continue to work “closely with IHIT†and with the additional help of the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) “to advance the investigation,†the release continued.
