Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia appears to be the subject of Zach Bryan’s scathing lyrics on his new album, “Heaven on Top,” released Friday. The country singer seemingly references their past relationship across multiple tracks, including “Skin,” where he sings about vowing to “never touch” his ex again and “taking a blade” to his own tattoo to “drain the blood between me and you.” Bryan also questions, “How do tattoos take to your skin?”—a possible nod to LaPaglia’s “How lucky are we?” arm tattoo, later echoed in his song “28.”
In “Plastic Cigarettes,” Bryan seemingly recounts their Queens meet-cute after a 2023 concert, singing, “My brother had told me to leave / But I didn’t believe the evil beneath some people you meet out in Queens.” The pair split in October 2024, with LaPaglia later accusing Bryan of emotional abuse and alleging he offered her $12 million to stay silent about their relationship.
Bryan also appears to contrast LaPaglia’s social media presence with his wife, Samantha Leonard, in “Slicked Back,” crooning, “Used to know some folks who put it all online but you paint landscapes in the evening time.” He praises Leonard—whom he married in Spain in December 2025—as someone who “likes romance, good sex, music and ruling the world.”
LaPaglia has yet to publicly address the album but recently teased a new romance on TikTok and appeared to mock Bryan’s marriage by lip-syncing Taylor Swift’s lyric, “Checkmate, I couldn’t lose.” Bryan, who recorded the album in Oklahoma, called the process freeing in a recent Instagram post.
