Barry Manilow has delayed his upcoming Las Vegas residency concerts to prioritize his health. The 82-year-old musician announced on Wednesday that his performances scheduled for February 12-21 at Westgate Las Vegas will be rescheduled following surgery to treat lung cancer.
Manilow reassured fans via Instagram, stating, “I’m doing great and recovering very well after my surgery. I’ve been getting exercise and spending some time in the studio.” However, based on his doctor’s advice, he decided to postpone the shows to focus on recovery and prepare for his farewell tour, which begins in late February. “Having a few weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered!” he added. Tickets for the affected dates will be refunded.
Manilow’s next performance is slated for February 27 in Tampa, Florida, followed by rescheduled Las Vegas shows in late March. His farewell tour will conclude on April 29 in Duluth, Georgia.
In December, Manilow revealed he had been diagnosed with early-stage lung cancer, crediting timely detection for avoiding chemotherapy or radiation. “It’s pure luck that it was found so early,” he said, though he postponed his January “Christmas: A Gift of Love” concerts to undergo surgery.
Reflecting on his decision to retire from touring, Manilow previously noted his enduring vocal strength and energy. “The night I can’t hit the F natural on ‘Even Now,’ that’s the night I throw in the towel,” he quipped. “But I can still do it.”
