The couple first briefly dated in late 2022, following Wong’s divorce from Justin Hakuta and Hader’s split from Anna Kendrick. They initially parted ways due to busy schedules but reconciled by April 2023, when Hader casually referred to Wong as his girlfriend in an interview. The pair made their red carpet debut at the Directors Guild of America Awards in February 2025.
Wong later shared in her 2024 “Single Lady” comedy special that they met through a dating app, where Hader confessed a long-standing crush, famously sending her elaborate flower arrangements to court her.
