David Beckham addressed his children’s “mistakes” in a Tuesday morning interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” hours after his son Brooklyn Beckham’s viral social media rant. Discussing the pros and cons of social media, the retired soccer star emphasized, “What kids can access these days can be dangerous,” while encouraging responsible use. “They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn,” said Beckham, father to Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, with wife Victoria Beckham. “You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes.”
He avoided commenting on Brooklyn’s Instagram Story accusations earlier that day, in which the eldest Beckham child claimed his parents attempted to “control” his life and “ruin” his marriage to Nicola Peltz. Brooklyn alleged years of manipulation, citing wedding drama—including a last-minute dress cancellation and a “humiliating” first dance—as evidence of Victoria’s interference. “I’ve been controlled by my parents most of my life,” he wrote, adding that stepping away from his family relieved his “overwhelming anxiety.”
David similarly sidestepped questions about the family rift at the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting, declining to address whether he had a message for Brooklyn. Neither he nor Victoria has publicly responded to the claims.
Brooklyn praised Peltz for prioritizing “peace, privacy, and happiness” amid the feud, which escalated last year when he reportedly cut contact with his parents. The couple has remained united, with Peltz recently showcasing a “family first” tattoo ahead of Brooklyn’s statement. Sources claim his outburst stemmed from a “massive breakdown in trust,” adding reconciliation is unlikely “for now.” While some social media users questioned inconsistencies in Brooklyn’s account, wedding guest Stavros Agapiou confirmed to the Daily Mail that Brooklyn’s claims about Victoria are “true.”
