Former “Little Rascals” star Bug Hall has swapped Hollywood for a rural homestead in Arkansas, embracing what he calls a “radical Catholic extremist” lifestyle. Now 40, Hall lives near Mountain Home with his wife, Jill, and their five daughters, residing in a campervan equipped with a water well and generator. He has taken a vow of poverty, donating his childhood acting earnings and most material possessions, aiming to live with minimal income. Hall occasionally takes odd jobs for cash when needed but plans to build an entirely self-sufficient off-grid home featuring hydro-electric power and independent plumbing.
The actor and his wife homeschool their children and intend to dissuade them from attending traditional schools or college, which he dismisses as “nonsense.” His extended family—including his mother, stepfather, and younger brother—have also relocated to the area, purchasing nearby land.
Hall’s departure from Hollywood followed a 2020 arrest for huffing air duster cans in Texas, though no charges were filed. He claims 15 years of prior sobriety and describes the incident as a turning point, rejecting what he saw as a life of “manipulation” and addiction. Hall rose to fame as Alfalfa in the 1994 film “The Little Rascals” and later starred in Disney’s 2002 movie “Get a Clue” with Lindsay Lohan. He earned a Children’s Emmy nomination for “A Tale Dark and Grimm” and co-wrote the Selena Gomez-produced film “This Is the Year.”
