McCarthy explained she was initially hired to provide lighthearted commentary on shows like “Dancing with the Stars” and “The Bachelor,” but producers quickly shifted focus to politics—a direction she resisted at the time.
Though she now identifies as more politically engaged, McCarthy emphatically stated she’d never return, saying, “Over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place.” She also reiterated past claims that producers instructed her to “act Republican” despite her conservative leanings.
McCarthy recalled being part of a mass firing in 2014 alongside co-host Sherri Shepherd, admitting she’d wanted to leave the show. She described the dismissals as a “massacre,” noting she felt relief when her termination finally came.
