Beloved makeup artist Jasen Kaplan’s death has been ruled a suicide, according to reports. Authorities cited “blunt impact injuries to the torso and extremities”—consistent with a fall from height—as the cause. The New York City medical examiner’s office has not publicly commented.
Kaplan, 46, died in a New York City hospital on December 31, just hours before New Year’s Eve celebrations. His passing prompted an outpouring of tributes from celebrities and clients, including Bethenny Frankel, Tinsley Mortimer, and Kelly Osbourne, who described him as a talented and cherished collaborator. A longtime friend noted Kaplan’s loyalty, stating many clients worked with him for over two decades.
Kaplan rose to prominence while working on the 2005 reality series Gastineau Girls and later became a sought-after artist for stars like Eva Longoria, Lynda Carter, and Cyndi Lauper. In 2016, he appeared on the dating show Finding Prince Charming, produced by Lance Bass. His death follows the recent passing of another contestant from the show, Chad Spodick, who died last month.
